Job Description:
The Director of Accounting is responsible for internal control, general ledger account setup and maintenance, general accounting and financial analysis, reconciliations, annual audits, and overall financial reporting. This position supervises a team, manages the day-to-day operations, and ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and authoritative accounting requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
› Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions.
› Manage and consolidate financial data for accurate business results.
› Coordinate internal and external financial statements and audits.
› Provide financial data to support decision-making processes.
› Improve and implement accounting processes and internal control systems.
› Oversee regulatory reporting, including tax compliance.
› Train, hire, and retain skilled accounting staff.
› Manage general ledger and ensure timely month- and year-end closings.
› 10 years of accounting/finance management experience, including 5 years in a supervisory role.
› Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field (or additional relevant experience).
› Strong understanding of GAAP and federal/state requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
› Experience with federal audits and compliance.
› Familiarity with ERP systems like PeopleSoft and financial planning software.
› Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) preferred.
› Master’s degree in accounting or finance.
Salary Range:
› $140,759 to $219,794 per year (typical hiring range: $140,759 to $180,277, based on experience).
