Gerber Products Company, a leading player in nutrition, health, and wellness for children from birth to preschool, is seeking an Electrical Automation & Controls Engineer to join their team. As part of the Nestlé family, Gerber is dedicated to enriching children's lives while fostering healthy habits and sustainability. This role will play a critical part in maintaining and improving automation and control systems at the Fremont, MI plant.
Key Responsibilities:
Support Systems:
Become the subject matter expert on electrical systems and controls for the Fremont plant’s First Food and Third Food production lines. Provide hardware and software application support.
Project Management:
Manage and participate in the full project lifecycle, from concept development to commissioning, including contractor management, procurement, and system start-ups.
Maintenance:
Develop and optimize planned maintenance (PM) plans, ensure system reliability, maintain documentation, and supervise the execution of maintenance activities.
Improvements:
Troubleshoot production equipment and optimize performance. Provide technical coaching and training to electrical/control technicians and peers.
Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to safety and environmental regulations, reporting incidents and maintaining compliance with Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) and Total Performance Management (TPM) programs.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience:
› 3-5 years in electrical and automation engineering, ideally in the pharmaceutical or food industry.
› Extensive knowledge of factory automation and industrial electrical systems, with hands-on experience in AB Control Logix, Wonderware, Siemens control systems, and robotics.
› Expertise in process automation, PLC, SCADA, HMI systems, and programming languages (C#, Python, Java).
Skills:
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with SAP or similar systems.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge in validation processes (IQ, OQ, PQ) for food or pharmaceutical industries.
